Do you know HTML? It would help if you knew at least the basics on designing a website. Then move up to javascript and the advanced stuff. Buy frontpage (an awesome website program) that can help you with html, css, javascript, etc. Also try sites with javascript games and check out the codes. Most likely you'll have to teach yourself or take a class in school/college.
Reply:Look it up at http://java.sun.com in their learning section. They have some great tutorials. Though depending on what kind of database you're making, linked lists might be overkill.
