Why do I sometimes get pingbacks from sites that never linked to me?

My website The Prize Blog will sometimes get a pinkback or refferal link from a site that has seemingly never linked to my site. Why?

I get the same sort of thing on my server. It's usually just a new form of spam. You looked through your log file and saw an unknown referral, and you went and looked at THEIR site to see what they said about you. So they got you to come to them. Either to see their viagra ad, or to up their hit counter, or to boost them in their search engine rankings (works well if your linkbacks are visible online since YOU now become a referrer to THEM), or whatever...





Just ignore them.
