Why are beer and sports closely linked and related???

Nearly everyone drinks beer while watching sports. It is avaliable at pretty much all sporting events and everywhere you look people are drinking it. It is hard to imagine going to a game where beer is not everywhere. Furthermore when people are not watching games at the venue or at home they are watching them at beer filled sports bars. Also most beer ads relate to sports and are clearly targeted at sports fans. In our culture spectator sports and beer clearly go together to the point where you cant have one without the other. Why is this? Why are beer and specator sports so closely related? Why is it that in our world wherever their is beer their is sport and vise versa? If anyone would be able to explain this it would be you the beer guzzling sports fans...

Why are beer and sports closely linked and related???
If you have to ask.....

Actually, after prohibition ended, the beer and liquor companies were limited in how and where they could advertise, so they all jumped to stadium signs, radio ads during the games. This helped "create" some of the linkage, but almost every great athlete in the 20's, 30's, and 40's, would wind down with some beverages --beer, vodka, etc. after their games.

Add in a few sports writers with a credit card, and the perfect cocktail was in place.

Think I'll do 200 push-ups, and have a few beers right now, since you mentioned it.
Reply:What ChopperPilot said, plus beer companies advertise everyone and everything. These companies will pay to have their beer shown in movies, whether it's in the hands of an actor/actress or in the background on a sign. They sneak it in any chance they get.

You see them all over stadiums like Chopper was saying. If you're ever watching a baseball game, the advertisement behind home plate is almost always a Bud Light or Budweiser sign. Why are they so closely related? Beats me. Probably because beer makes everything a little bit more fun, plus the advertising. They kind of go hand in hand and I doubt that will change.
Reply:Because both is mostly related to males. lol lol lol

Well, I am Czech, so, it is known that we love beer (because we make the best beer, and no one can complain about this. Shut up Germans! Just kidding. LOL LOL LOL) . So, even though I am female, I love beer, but I don't drink for getting drunk.
Reply:eases the amount of stress. i.e. when ur team needs 1 goal to go to the finals,u cant watch the game sober damnit.and to light things up so the fans would sing louder and wilder
Reply:Manisms!
Reply:It is what it is. That's the answer from this beer guzzling sports fan!
Reply:My guess is to loosen people up so they cheer without worryin about wat the next person think. Drunk=brave
