Why are beer and sports closely linked and related???


Nearly everyone drinks beer while watching sports. It is avaliable at pretty much all sporting events and everywhere you look people are drinking it. It is hard to imagine going to a game where beer is not everywhere. Furthermore when people are not watching games at the venue or at home they are watching them at beer filled sports bars. Also most beer ads relate to sports and are clearly targeted at sports fans. In our culture spectator sports and beer clearly go together to the point where you cant have one without the other. Why is this? Why are beer and specator sports so closely related? Why is it that in our world wherever their is beer their is sport and vise versa? If anyone would be able to explain this it would be you the beer guzzling sports fans...

More than likely because the people would be drining beeer even if there was no sport event.
Reply:Alcohol and sports are two of the biggest leisure activities INDEPENDENT of each other in the world. Since they are also of the type that can be done together.... a lot of people do.





Imagine this question, "why don't people drink at work, ever?" Because they can't. Why do they drink at sporting events? Because its one of the few times of the damn long work week when you can!
Reply:Because most hard working men drink beer. Sports is like a way for guys who work construction and stuff to see guys who are similar to them.
Reply:simple. beer makes almost everything better. And I think people who do not like football are drinking fruity cocktails. Martinis have to much of an alcohol taste for these people ( James Bond drank them and if he was an American he would be a big football fan)
Reply:Because beer and sports are both "macho guy" things. Guys who don't like sports, usually don't like beer. They sip on martinis or something else.
Reply:cause sports are fun to watch ,well i mostly watch football and ice cold beers are delicious, as a matter of fact i think i will have an ice cold beer right now

Reply:Its not just the sport/beer connection, its the fun/beer connection. Our culture loves to throw a few back when socializing in a fun atmosrhere with friends. It just so happens that in the U.S. we are infatuated with football, myself definitely included. IT is America's pass time now, with baseball playing deep in second. That makes for a perfect time to drink a few, have fun with the guys(and girls, sorry ladies), and pull for your team. I think thats another reason is that as we get older, watching games with your die hard buddies around, a little nostalgia drops in and you remember being on a team in HS or college and the comradary you felt so of course tip one back for the memories. Go Steelers...see now you made me want a beer!
