I am trying to find out if Osteoporosis is linked to the Depo Prevera shot in anyway???

I am trying to see if the Depro-Prevera Shot of birthcontrol is linked to Osteoporosis in any for. I have searched but have come up empty handed. I just thought someone else may know something about this.

I'm not really sure. All I know is that the Depo Prevera takes calcium from your bones. Anyone who is on thins type of birth control they should take extra calcium.
Reply:Depo Provera increases the risk of Osteoporosis. You should take 800 mg of Calcium each day.
Reply:Use of depo provera for an extended period of time (%26gt;2 years ) can lead to bone loss. It can easily be prevented with Calcium and Vit D supplements.
Reply:I don't know if Depo can be directly linked to Osteoporosis, but I know that Depo can leach the calcium out of your body, that is why it's highly recommended that when you're on Depo, you also take a calcium supplement as well.
